Früchte des Nichts Premier on November 6, 2004 (not on the schedule anymore). Director: Christiane Pohle. Music composed and performed by Philipp Haagen and Fritz Feger. The stage music reaches from a let's call it punk-hardcore-prog sound, expressing the protest and rejection attitude of Foss and Gert, over "classical" stage music like a song for the swot Lebrecht, and Fellini-italian film music sounds for the great transfigural-sacral mysterium at the occasion of the assassination of Creszenz by Gert in the church. | On October 1, 2002, Thalia in der Gaußstrasse saw the first performance of a chamber opera which without an exception uses German folk songs as musical and textual material. The songbook (of course in German) proves it! |
| The family of the count is sitting together; mother and father sing an old ballad to their only daughter like parents have always did. But then, the idyll is disturbed because the father has booked three travelling musicians to liven up the the little one's birthday party. He did however not expect so much life: the daughter is on the verge from child to woman, and the three guest are, each in his way, immediately highly interested. The then inescapably unfolding confusion of emotions finally even seizes the good parents. Hence, they have, prior to the (for most of them) happy end, all to endure a great deal. |

| Vernacular knew to sing during the recent millenium of almost everything which is on our minds today: love, unfaithfullness and jealousy, alcohol excesses, pedantery, loneliness, joie de vivre, fear of and longing for death, war and peace. Some of the old topics wore out a little bit, e.g. to go to the monastery in order to escape an unwanted marriage. On the other hand, some modern issues are refreshingly alien to German folk music, like the fear to lose one's youthfulness. From the intersection, Fritz Feger has compiled a playwright. |

But mainly Jägermeister is of course concerned with music. German folk music is the source classical German composers (and poets)
have feasted on much more than occurs to us today. With the fall of the Third Reich - and not with the industrialization - German folk musik
has vanished from German culture. Only some degenerate form, known as Volkstümliche Musik, tortures us and prevents, together with
the trauma of the Third Reich German folk music is often associated with, a relaxed approach comparable to the situation in other cultures.
Enough evidence for the Thalia house band to look what's up there.

Väter und Söhne For the playwright "Väter und Söhne" (Fathers and Sons) by Brian Friel after Turgenejew's novel with the same title Fritz Feger has written and produced a stage music. Director: Michael Talke, Premier: October 5, 2002 at Thalia Theater Hamburg. One of the two fathers, Nikolaj Petrowitsch Kirsanow, plays cello, according to the playwright. Of course you can hear this (and see it, too: here is the score). And then, he also gives a feast in honour of his returned son where he really struggles to make everybody feel great. house band of the Thalia, a concert series: the Wurzelbehandlung.

Inferno / Paradiso / Purgatorio |
|

Philipp Haagen, Michael Verhovec and Fritz Feger are also the stage musicians of the production "Inferno"
after the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. Directed by Tomaz Pandur, stage and costumes by Marina Hellmann, stage music after compositions of Goran Bregovic.
Here, Philipp Haagen plays the tuba and sings, Michael Verhovec treats several percussion instruments including glockenspiel,
and Fritz Feger sings, plays cello and, in a memorable moment of the performance, blows with all his strength into a macedonian
woodwind instrument called surle or zurna.

The second and third part of the Divine Comedy, namely Purgatory and Paradise, premiered on
February 22 (A-premier) and 23, 2002 (B-premier). For this continuation of the collaboration between them and
director Tomaz Pandur, Philipp Haagen, Michael Verhovec and Fritz Feger have jointly taken over
musical direction from Erik Gedeon.
The self-ethnification of the three of them as, as was to be expected, experienced an escalation - maybe they managed to authentify themselves in the ursupated ethnicity, maybe they find, where they resist the corruptive suction of cult, canon and kitsch, the own inside the external!
